Assistance for Job Seekers

Beginning September 14, Madison Public Library, the Madison Senior Center, and the UW-Writing Center will be offering bi-weekly workshops for job seekers at the Central Library. Trained personnel from the Library, the Writing Center, and the Senior Center will help interested individuals

  • write resumes and cover letters
  • use credible job search web sites
  • apply for jobs online
  • establish free, web-based email accounts for job search contacts.

Sessions are offered Monday afternoons, 1 - 4 p.m. through November. Interested job seekers may register for hour-long sessions by calling 266-6350. Drop-ins are welcome and will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additionally, four classes will be held:

"Easy Resumes & Cover Letters" on Monday, July 27, 9:30 a.m. at the Sequoya Library - call 266-6385 or stop by the Ask Desk to register

"Online Job Applications" on Thursday, August 6, 9:30 a.m. at the Pinney Library - register online or call 224-7100 beginning 7/23

"One-Stop Shopping for Job Seekers Using the Web" on Wednesday, September 2, 10:00 a.m. at the Hawthorne Library - register online or call 246-4548 beginning 8/19

"Easy Resumes & Cover Letters" on Tuesday, September 15, 5:30 p.m. at the South Madison Library - register online or call 266-6395 beginning 9/1
