Example #2: I'm looking for a list of African-American authors writing about society and politics in the 20th century

Select the person seach option from the top of the page.

Select African American under ethnicity

Select the browse link next to subject/themes. You can also type in terms in the search box but using the Literature Resource Center terms listed under browse will give better results.

This will take you a different page where you can browse different subjects and themes. (1) To jump to a certain point in the list type in the word or a single letter in the search box and click "find" this will then start the list at that point. (2) Click the box next to the themes you want, and they will appear in the list on the right-hand side of the screen when you are done, (3) click "submit" to return to the search page with those themes.

Select 20th century under century Click "Search"

This will give a list of authors that fit this criteria. Clicking on the hyper-linked author's name will take you to that author's main page where additional information about their lives and their works can be found.
