Example 1: I can’t remember the first line of a poem, but I think it starts out “How I like to go up in a swing.” Can I find the poem, even if I don’t know the title?

blue arrow From the front page of LitFinder, type the first line of the poem in the Basic Search box on the right hand side of the page. Then click on the poems box, under the Basic Search box. Click on the arrow box, to go.

blue arrow From the Results page, click on the Poem Titles link that you think might match your poem. The first title listed is “The Swing” by Robert Louis Stevenson.

blue arrow From here, you can see that the first line of the poem matches the poem you are looking for. You can choose to print the text or continue searching for more information.

blue arrow There is a list of references that includes books that this poem can be found in.

blue arrow You can also view all of the other available poems by Robert Louis Stevenson by clicking on the Poems link above the text of the poem.
