Wanda Fullmore Interns at Your Library

Wanda Fullmore Interns

Meet our Wanda Fullmore Interns! Eight of our nine library locations are hosting a Wanda Fullmore Intern this summer. The interns will help each location with general library tasks, customer service and run a variety of youth programs. We are excited to have the interns help this summer and share with the community the work they do with us.

The Wanda Fullmore Internship program is an opportunity for youth in the City of Madison to experience paid professional employment through various city departments. The focus is to provide youth who face barriers with quality employment with opportunities to explore city government careers. Common Wealth Development facilitates the program, from recruiting and interviewing to providing training and ongoing mentoring throughout the duration of the internship. Youth who are selected are also given training prior to starting their internships to gain knowledge and skills for working in a professional environment.

This year, the Wanda Fullmore Internship Program employs 44 teens as interns in the following city departments:

  • Clerk’s office
  • Community Development
  • Civil Rights
  • Economic Development
  • Engineering
  • Fire Department
  • Housing Division
  • Human Resources
  • Madison Public Library
  • Parks Division
  • Public Health
  • Water Utility
