A Portrait in Time

Artist Reception

Lakeview Library's featured artist, Melissa Enderle, seeks to preserve and document images of traditional life. Her exhibit "A Portrait in Time" will be available to view at Lakeview Library throughout the month of November.

Get to know the artist and her work at the Gallery Reception at Lakeview Library on Friday November 3 from 5:00-7:30pm with a special presentation at 6pm.

Specializing in portraiture, Melissa’s artwork captures the essence of the people and places she has visited, with an emphasis on tradition and culture. Her highly detailed pieces are rendered in color pencil, watercolor, and pastels. She enjoys traveling and documenting her experiences through art, photography, videos, and a travelblog. Melissa has held solo art shows in Tunisia, Serbia, and India, and locally in Milwaukee and Madison. Two of her pieces are in the collections of museums in Serbia and Tunisia.

"I feel compelled to document and preserve these images of traditional life before they are gone. They are a record of unique cultures that should not be forgotten. The simple dignity of these people’s lives, the values they place on family, community, hard work, honesty, and respect should motivate us to reassess our own values." -Melissa Enderle from her Artist Statement
