Moving and Grooving

Kiddos and their families can get moving and grooving at the library! These upcoming events are great ways for children to learn about dance, music, and play - all while having the best time with new friends.

Not to mention, programs like these can help improve cognitive development, motor skills, wellness, and general self-esteem in kids of all ages. 

All are free to attend, but some do require registration. Please check the calendar to register for that day's event or view a complete schedule of upcoming activities. 

Let's Move!
Thursdays, November 2-16, 10:30am - Hawthorne Library

A fun and active fitness class for children ages 18 months to five years and their parent or caregiver. Learn songs, games and exercises that can be used on a daily basis. Mindfulness, wellness, and self-esteem are also emphasized. Teacher Venus Washington, owner of R U Fit Fitness Company, is excited to share her tips and knowledge with you!

Movement in Your World: Family Dance

Join Madison Ballet for a fun Creative Movement experience for the whole family! In this 30 minute class, children (ages 2 - 5) and parents dance together while focusing on rhythm, movement, music and fun. Exercises will focus on body awareness, motor skills and individual expression through movement. Registration for the series opens two weeks before the first class.

Wednesdays, November 8 & 15 from 10:30am-12:30pm - Lussier Community Center 

The library will provide play and art materials especially chosen to encourage highly engaged, self-determined play. When kids are done, they'll create a Play Story depicting their play that day. Messy clothes recommended. Open to all ages. *Note: this event takes place at the Lussier Community Center, 55 S. Gammon*

Music + Movement 
Thursdays, November 9 - December 21, 9:15am and 10:15am - Pinney Library

Little ones stay active with music, movement, play, and bubbles! Especially for toddlers, all siblings welcome.

Preschool & Toddler Dance Party

Shake it all about to familiar and new tunes. Ages 2 & up.

Art After Overture 
Saturdays, November 11 and December 9 from 9:00am-1:00pm - Central Library

Stop by the Central Library for art activities inspired by performances at Overture Center for the Arts' Kids in the Rotunda series.

Instrument Petting Zoo 
Saturdays, November 18 at 1:00-4:30pm - Central Library

Get up close and personal with members of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra AND their instruments!

Family Music Time
Wednesdays, December 6-20 at 10:05am and 10:45am - Lakeview Library

Join Eliza Tyksinski, certified Music Together instructor, for this interactive music experience for children ages 5 & under and their families.

Baby Gym
Thursdays, December 7-21, 10:00am - Sequoya Library

Help your baby gain good pre-reading and writing skills and have fun at the same time! Baby Gym incorporates large motor activities with stories to develop body and mind. For babies aged 3 months to 18 months. Registration is first come, first served. Please pick up a nametag 15 minutes before the program begins.
