Madison Public Library has a number of resources and events that can help you feel empowered in all areas of wellness.  Stay informed, find community, and reach your wellness goals with the library!

UW-Extension speaker, Deb Neubauer, will present on food preservation and safety during this Frank Allis Heritage Community Garden event.

Finding Good Health Information Online
August 10, 6:00-8:00pm - Sequoya Library

Need help finding trustworthy health information for yourself or someone you care for? With a UW-Madison librarian as your guide, you'll explore some of the internet's most accurate and understandable sources for health information. Bring your laptop or use one provided by the library. Your guide will be Julie Arensdorf, Outreach & Instruction Librarian in the Teaching & Learning Programs office at the UW-Madison Libraries.

Heart Health – Know Your Numbers
August 21, 6:30-7:30pm – Sequoya Library

Join the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation for a FREE health session. Presented by a registered nurse, this one-hour session is all about the leading cause of death in women: heart disease. Participants, you will learn ways to protect your heart health by knowing your numbers and identifying your personal risk. GrapeVine is a part of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation, a statewide non-profit that provides health services and education for women and families. Registration is required. Healthy Snacks for Busy People
August 24, 6:30-7:30pm – Central Library

We’re busy people, and that can make eating healthy a challenge. Learn from a Registered Dietitian how to satisfy your health and energy needs with delicious snacks perfect for anyone who's often on-the-go - parents and kids included - and enjoy some samples! Presenter Dani Matthies is a Certified and Registered Dietitian. She serves as Health Writer at the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation and works part-time as an inpatient dietitian at ProHealth Care. She is passionate about chronic disease prevention and enjoys partnering with community organizations to get the word out about nutrition and healthy lifestyle change. Registration required. 

Community Salad Supper
August 24, 6:00-7:00pm – Lakeview Library

Join us for a community salad supper. Bring produce you have grown with seeds from the Lakeview Seed Library to add to a community salad. You can also bring produce that you have grown on your own (or purchased.) We will provide tableware, salad dressing, bread and refreshments.
