Are you an older adult looking for resources? A caregiver in search of information? Someone who works with aging individuals on a regular basis? Dean & St. Mary’s have published their 2009 Over 60 Resource Directory, a guide to programs and services for older adults and their families in Dane County, and copies are available at all Madison Public Library locations. Find information about agencies, programs and services for older adults and their families, complete with contact information and a description of services. The directory’s listings run the gamut of resources for those in the aging network, with information about community and senior centers, educational opportunities, employment and volunteer information, financial and legal resources, food and nutrition, health and medical issues, housing, information and referral, recreation and socialization opportunities as well as transportation. Read an article about the directory by Capital Times writer Barbara Quirk.
The Over 60 Resource Directory is made possible through a collaboration between the Area Agency on Aging, United Way 2-1-1, the Dane County Library Service, St. Mary’s Hospital, Dean Health System, and the Dean Health Plan.
Looking for more information? The Next Chapter collection has information for retirees or persons approaching retirement, housed at the Alicia Ashman Library. Books, DVDs, magazines and more are complimented by sponsored events on aging, health, financial planning for retirement, the benefits of volunteering, and other related topics.
