As Spring Arrives, “Greening Our World” Is Released

For most of this decade, Madison Gas and Electric, Madison Public Library, and Sustain Dane have teamed up to develop a special book and video collection dedicated to earth-friendly living and communities. With growing public interest in this subject, the partners have once again significantly enhanced the collection. The newest additions can be found in the vibrant, newly updated brochure, Greening Our World: Resources for Earth-Friendly Living.
Madison Gas and Electric provides support for this collection and other “eco” information resources at area libraries as a part of its public library partnership, and produces the Greening Our World brochure and bookmarks. Sustain Dane, a Madison-based non-profit organization dedicated to creating communities that deeply enjoy, care for, and are sustained by their unique environment, contributes its recommendations for the development of the collection. Madison Public Library acquires and houses the materials at its branches throughout the city.
The focus of the sustainable living resources is on personal, practical solutions to the environmental challenges we face as individuals, communities, and members of a larger natural system. Our strengths include the capacity to creatively meet these challenges without sacrificing quality of life. These materials help individuals make informed choices that lessen our environmental impacts and create healthier, sustainable communities.
Topics range from the larger-scale level of economics, food systems, and urban planning, to the smaller-scale level of how we conduct business, build our homes and take steps to improve our individual quality of life in ways that support the earth.
Paper copies of the brochure and accompanying bookmarks are available at all Madison Public Library locations, from MG&E, and from Sustain Dane.
