Come hear acclaimed children’s book author Patricia Polacco read from her new, yet unpublished book “In Our Mothers’ House” at the Central Branch on Saturday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. The author will be available after the reading to sign copies of her other books, which will be available for purchase, thanks to a partnership with A Room of One’s Own booksellers.
Patricia Polacco was born in Lansing, Michigan. Her family is of Russian and Ukrainian
descent on one side and Irish descent on the other. As a child, Patricia Polacco spent the school year in Oakland, California, and her summers in Michigan. Her stories reflect her family’s cultural traditions and celebrate the richness and diversity of family relationships. She also travels to schools and libraries, sharing her stories with children all over the country.
Patricia Polacco is author and illustrator of 40-plus works, including “Babushka’s Doll” (1990), “Chicken Sunday” (1992), winner of the Golden Kite Award for Illustration, and “Pink and Say” (1997). Most recently, Polacco published “Someone for Mr. Sussman” in November of 2008. “In Our Mothers’ House” is scheduled for release on April 30, 2009.
