Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial

February 12, 2009 marks the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. A number of organizations are presenting programs to celebrate the events.
Among the major resources for information on Lincoln are the Abraham Lincoln Association,  the Library of Congress’s Lincoln Bicentennial 1809-2009 and the Illinois Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.

The Smithsonian Institution will present a special program, Lincoln in Washington, tracing the Lincoln presidency , April 29 - May 3, 2009. In addition, the Library of Congress will present the National Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition of rare treasures, opening to the public on April 12, 2009.

For the list of books on Lincoln, Booklist magazine (a major reviewing source for new books) has compiled a core list of significant titles- Happy Birthday, Mr. Lincoln.
