Books Overdue? We Can Help!
If you’re like me, you’ve got so many books checked out that it’s hard to keep track of what’s due when. Now we can make it easier for you with email reminders two days before your library items are due!
Sign up for email notification in person at your favorite library, by phone (266-6357), or through our online form. With two days advance notice, you can renew your items or get them back in time. Just be sure to set your email’s spam filter to accept mail from @scls.lib.wi.us addresses.

This is a great idea! Actually, I’d rather get these emails than the ones that tell me my books are available. I know when they’re available because of the Holds page, but I may miss the due dates.

Renewing materials is likely one of the top reasons patrons access your web site, yet it seems impossible to do so, let alone do it FAST.
I have spent more minutes than I care to recount searching all over you web site trying to simply discover how to renew a book but to no avail. It is very frustrating.
How to do this should be made immediately obvious to anyone visiting your home page, even for the first time. I would think that a well-designed library web site would have a simple list of functions, e.g. “renew library materials” so that one could click on it and be taken to the specific activity in seconds.
If doing so is not possible because of the complexity of the process, then at least it would be helpful that when I click on “renew library materials”, up would come a message saying:
2 ways to renew material. Have your library card number available, then …
1. Phone # (circulation desk)
2. visit the library in person (with library card) to renew
“Materials may not be renewed on-line”
Thanks.

Mr. Glover,
I’m sorry you were finding it difficult to renew your materials. You mentioned about our web site, but I’m unsure if you were referencing the library’s web site http://www.madisonpubliclibrary.orgor the catalog web site, which we share with over forty public libraries in a seven county area http://www.linkcat.info.
The Madison web site links to the LINKcat Catalog on its menu - it is the top left choice on every single page of the library web site, directly under the “Madison Public Library” logo.
Once you are in LINKcat, the instructions on logging in to your account and renewing items are outlined here: http://www.madisonpubliclibrary.org/linkcat/renew.html.
