In 1990 President George Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 as “National American Indian Heritage Month.” Similar proclamations have been issued each year since 1994.  This time of recognition and celebration is now also known as National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month.

For reading lists of American Indian fiction, American Indian videos, books about Native Peoples of Wisconsin, books by American Indian authors and illustrators, as well as selected internet resources, please refer to our American Indian Heritage Month web page.
