Madison Public Library: History & Future
include("adsense.php"); ?>Have you seen the soon-to-open new Sequoya Branch Library? Heard about plans
for a new South Madison Branch in a completely revamped Villager Mall? How about the vision for a grand new nine-story structure at Mifflin & Fairchild, housing a 115,000 square foot Central Library? The Madison Public Library Foundation aims high, and climbs far: these dreams are all progressing towards reality. On Wednesday, October 15, 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, Terrie Goren, Director of the Madison Public Library Foundation, will be presenting the video The History of the Madison Public Library, written and narrated by local author and historian Stuart Levitan. Please join us for this event, a part of the Wisconsin Book Festival. See other Book Fest events at the Madison Public Library.

I can’t believe there is a true need for a new library downtown! The South Library at the Villager Mall definitely needs to be remodeled/enlarged, but with all the other needs there are in the city, the county, the state, the country, the world, and for the hungry and homeless, building a new library seems greedy, thoughtless, inhumane, and grandly unnecessary.
