Get Smart with Your Finances

Alicia

Concerned about your finances? Looking for some guidance on how to spend, save, and borrow money wisely? October 12 - 18 is Money Smart Week Wisconsin, part of a state campaign to improve the financial literacy of Wisconsin residents. Hundreds of educational classes, seminars and activities will take place all around the state, and include events concerning paying for college, preventing fraud and identity theft, choosing an insurance policy, and managing your money, among much more. Visit Money Smart Wisconsin for more information and resources, and a full schedule of events.

Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton has recently launched a Guide for Penny Pinchers for those trying to save money without spending too much time searching for information. The guide gathers information and resources about gas prices, budgeting, low-cost prescription drugs, and many other helpful tips about saving all in one place.

Looking to invest? The library has many recommended investment resources available, as well as lists of online databases for investors and personal investing websites. Check out the Morningstar Investment Resource Center, available through all Madison Public Libraries or online with use of your library card. Or, get more information about the current financial crisis.
