Alicia Ashman Branch, Tuesday, September 23, 7 p.m.
Join Alan Lukazewski for a discussion about how seniors can better use medications to live a high quality life and manage chronic conditions at the same time.  Medications are by far the most efficient way to deliver effective health care and manage high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression and other chronic conditions. However, mounting data that shows medication use in older adults can actually cause harm, from a decline in daily functioning to hospitalization or death.  How do we decondition ourselves as consumers that want a pill for everything?  Come and find out.  Alan is the Pharmacy Director and Health Educator at Oakwood Village in Madison.

Your Next Step: Creating a Housing Plan
Alicia Ashman Branch, Saturday, October 4, 10 a.m.
Receive valuable information on key questions to consider when planning for your next home. Location, medical, financial, and lifestyle topics are covered. Amy will show you how to integrate a housing plan into your overall retirement plan. Presenter Amy Onofrey of Senior Living Solutions consults with Dane County families on retirement living options including assisted living, apartments, and condominiums. Amy also accompanies families on housing site visits and represents families in home sales and purchases through Coldwell Banker Success Realty.

These programs are part of THE NEXT CHAPTER, a collection and program series created with a gift to the library from Bob and Carroll Heideman and RSVP of Dane County. THE NEXT CHAPTER is a one-stop shop where retirees or persons approaching retirement can find the information they need to take charge of their future and create a life they love living. You can receive updates to the collection and program series with an electronic newsletter sent every other month.
