The Value of a Library Card
include("adsense.php"); ?>
This month’s issue of Better Homes and Gardens reminds readers of the importance of
libraries in an article about keeping the brain healthy and young. The Brain Food column recommends “Read easy - forget credit cards - the most important piece of plastic in your wallet is your library card. People who live well and live long tend to be avid, curious readers. Brush your card off and put it to use today.” (Donaldson, Doug. “Forever Young: The Fountain of Youth is a Way of Living, Not a Secret Place of Legend.” Better Homes and Gardens, August 2008: 168)

I agree entirely. My brain feels clogged and useless if I don’t challenge my thinking with reading on a regular basis. But it’s not just reading that can help the brain stay active - use jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, word sleuths, word games and people who stimulate your thinking as well.
