Are you a big reader? Someone who reads a little bit of everything? Thinking of volunteering a little of your time for a good cause? Here’s your chance!
One of the services Madison Public Library provides is the delivery of books to nursing homes and to people who aren’t able to come to the library. Sounds great doesn’t it? What keeps the service afloat is the work done by dedicated and wonderful volunteers. Does it sound like something you’d like to do?
Here’s what the job entails:
Job Description: Under the supervision of the Home Service staff: assists in choosing appropriate library materials for homebound users, maintains records of materials for all homebound users, and assists with management of retirement loan collections.
Location: Central Library
Time Commitment: 1 day a week, 2 to 3 hours a day, must be able to commit to at least 6 months
Qualifications: A wide range of reading interests, with some knowledge of genre fiction; the ability to learn to use the Library’s computer system; the ability to follow oral and written instructions; the ability to work independently; detail oriented
