Hedwig’s Here

Have you spotted the snowy owl hanging around downtown Madison? We’ve seen him near the Central Madison Public Library. Unlike most owls, the snowy owls aren’t nocturnal, so you can spot our local “Hedwig” during the day. For more information about snowy owls, check out OwlPages.com. For instructions on how to draw Harry Potter’s snowy owl, check out drawfluffy.com.

We have received some great photos of the snowy owl hanging around downtown. They can be viewed on flickr:

Saw this on the local news a couple of nights ago. Pretty cool! The construction crane operators think it’s cool, too (though none of them were calling the owl Hedwig). Guess they didn’t make the Harry Potter connection.
Wonder what the state capitol’s peregrine falcons think of their new neighbor? If they hang around during the winter, that is….
