Common Council Awards Construction Contract for the Madison Public Library's Central Library
On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, the Madison Common Council awarded the construction contract for the Madison Public Library's Central Library reconstruction project to J.H. Findorff and Son, Inc. of Madison, WI.
J.H. Findorff and Son, Inc., one of four firms submitting bids for the Central Library reconstruction project, won the contract with a low bid of $18,501,000.00. Construction is expected to start mid March, 2012.
"I am very pleased that the reconstruction project can get underway very soon," said Madison Mayor Paul Soglin. "The downtown library is an incredible asset to our city, and the new and improved facility will be very welcome. I applaud the Madison Public Library Foundation for all their work. It's been a great partnership."

Madison Public Library's Central Library is currently operating at an interim location at 126 S. Hamilton St. until the new Central Library is completed in 2013. The Central Library at 126 S. Hamilton St. is open the same hours as the library on Mifflin St.: Mondays-Thursdays 9 am - 9 pm, Fridays 9 am - 6 pm, and Saturdays 9 am - 5 pm.
