LINKcat went through a major update last night. Searching the catalog will now utilize Solr, a fast and flexible indexing platform. Highlights of the switch include: It's easier for library staff to add records, meaning material will get added to the collection quicker. Facets on the results page are more accurate. LINKcat Mobile Apps
A LINKcat Mobile app is now available in the App Store (for Apple devices) and Google Play (for Android devices). Users of other platforms can use the LINKcat Mobile web site at m.linkcat.info.  Features include: My AccountSee your checked out items, renew items, and cancel or suspend holds. We’d like to thank the more than 3400 library customers who took the time to answer a LINKcat survey in November of 2011. Following are some of the highlights: 92.5% of respondents indicated that they were very satisfied or satisfied with their experiences checking out materials in a library. Local Newspaper and Magazine Index
Attention local researchers - the public Newspaper Index has returned to LINKcat. The Newspaper Index is a separate database from LINKcat and provides access to indexes of local newspapers and magazines. It is maintained by staff, and indexes local papers from Baraboo, Madison, Mount Horeb, Portage, and Reedsburg, as well as Wisconsin magazines. In April, our libraries will be transitioning to new software. From April 14 (9 pm) to the morning of April 18, LINKcat and our automated checkout system will not be available. Our libraries will remain open during this time and you will still be able to check out during this time if you have your library card with you. Why the change?
