For those of you needing a Grey's fix
Fast paced drama situated in the emergency room of a city hospital. Sounds like a television show, right? C. J. Lyons' debut mystery, Lifelines, certainly has all the excitement of such a show.
The writing is tight as we follow the new Emergency Room attending physician, Lydia Fiore, as she starts her job at Pittsburgh's Angels of Mercy Medical Center. Combatting her own nerves as she starts a new job, Lydia is also the new kid and must also deal with trying to fit in with the regular staff. Things gets harder right away when a patient who dies under her care turns out to be the son of the chief surgeon who wants Lydia's head. Add in a summer heat wave and religious and racial tensions and you've got a page-turner that will keep you going over a summer of repeats.
