A review of Prior Bad Acts by Tami Hoag

In her latest thriller, bestselling author Tami Hoag reunites Homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska first introduced in the novel Ashes to Ashes.

Minneapolis criminal-court judge and former prosecutor Carey Moore rules that the many Prior Bad Acts of accused serial killer Karl Dahl can't be introduced during his murder trial.  Her decision raises an outcry from both police officers and the public. After the judge is attacked in a parking garage, Kovac and Liska are assigned to protect her and solve the case.

Several suspects emerge including the stepson of the murder victim, Moore's husband and his shady business associates as well as a cop out for revenge against the criminal justice system.

The story advances toward a very unexpected conclusion full of surprises and plot twists.
