Just who is reading all those ebooks?
You know how I love a good infographic and thanks to Galleycat I've found another cool one to study. This one was designed by graphic designer Boris Benko and depicts the stats with regard to the explosion of ebook use. Some of the things you can spot in Benko's graphic?
In December of last year 18% of Americans owned a digital reading device, five months later that number has risen to 29%.
Tablet and Ebook reader ownership is running neck and neck - 19% each.
Average price of publisher sold ebooks in January, $8.75.
Average price of self-published ebooks in January, $1.78
There's lots more to see. What was not included in this fun graphic is where Madison ranks in digital literacy. The Atlantic did a little poking around and ranked the most electronically literate places in America and Madison came in at #4 - behind Lexington, Ann Arbor and Anchorage. No wonder the ebooks on our Overdrive database get checked in and out so often.
