Can you guess what it is?

include("adsense.php"); ?>Word on the literary street is that Oprah will be announcing her next Book Club pick on September 18th. Though I’ve not always been a fan of her choices, I am always curious as to which way she will jump when she makes a new one. To make it even more interesting this time around, I’m proposing a guessing game. Guess the book title and author and win a library book bag filled with goodies.
The rules:
- One guess per person
- Make your guess by commenting on this post and be sure to include an email address so that we can contact the winner
- If there is more then one person with the correct answer a random drawing will determine the winner
- Library staff can guess, but only for the glory of being right (no prize)
If you need some hints, take a look here and here. And if no one gets it right, we’ll pick a winner randomly from all entries (excluding staff).

My guess is: Eat what you want and die like a man : the world’s unhealthiest cookbook / by Steve Graham. Popcorn popped in bacon grease! Yee-hah! (Besides, I heard Oprah was off her diet again.) Yes, I’m being flippant. I get more than enough book recommendations from MADReads. I don’t need any more!

I’m gonna go with Say You’re One of Them by Uwem Akpan. It looks too “Oprah” for Oprah to resist. That’s my official guess.
As a discussion topic though, how funny would it be if she picked James Frey’s newer book, Bright Shiny Morning. She’s even in the UK version! It would be very meta for her to pick it and she did just apologize to him for tearing him apart on national TV. C’mon, Oprah!

I think Greg is right about this one. I would like to see her choose The Help which I recently reviewed for Madreads, but although I have not read Akpan’s book, I have to agree from what I know about it, that this is a shoo-in.
