All the pretty horses Down home zombies?

Prepare to get very happy

Sarah - Alicia Ashman

…if you’re a Jane Austen fan, that is.

If you love Jane Austen’s books, books written in the style of Austen, or if you keep hearing her name and just want to find out, once and for all, what all the fuss is about, January is going to be a very good month for you, as PBS and Masterpiece Theatre are pairing up to offer Jane Austen January.  During the entire month they’ll be showing new adaptations of all six of Austen’s novels, as well as a documentary about her life and influence.  And they’re bringing the heavy hitters to star in them, at least in BBC film star terms:

Rupert Penry-Jones in PersuasionRupert Penry-Jones (of the BBC series MI-5) will star as Captain Wentworth in Persuasion; Billie Piper (of the new Doctor Who series) will star in Mansfield Park; and, if I can tell from the pictures at the PBS site, they’ll be re-airing the Pride and Prejudice movie starring Mr. Colin Firth as the quintessential Mr. Darcy.

Yes, I am way too excited about this.  You should be too.
