What happened when Sleeping Beauty woke up?

Mary K. - Central

The Sleeping Beauty Proposal by Sarah Strohmeyer is a light, humorous, romantic book, and though the ending was  predictable, it was still a fun read.

beauty.gifGenie Michaels is eager to marry, but her long term professor boyfriend, Hugh,  just isn’t ready.  So after Hugh writes his best selling novel and is interviewed by Barbara Walters, Genie is surprised to hear him propose to someone (not her) on national television via telephone.  In what is probably an ill advised decision, and after a night of drinking, Genie decides to let everyone assume Hugh proposed to her.  Hugh is in England with family and not available to deny rumors.

Genie soon finds out that  many things are given to engaged women (although she does buy her own cubic zirconium engagement ring).  In fact Patty, Genie’s best friend, thinks it is such a good deal that she also fakes an engagement.

With a fabulous house on the market and a handsome and available carpenter working on its rehab with Genie’s brother Todd, Genie eventually works her way out of her dilemma and becomes a person who can make her own choices in life and love.
