Bonjour amour Can I mention a magazine?

Yet another entry in the “Jane Austen-esque” list

Sarah - Alicia Ashman

As admitted before, I have a severe Jane Austen problem.

Of course, loving her books the way I do is only a “problem” in the sense that I keep re-reading her books and neglecting other work and duties, and also in that it is very hard to find contemporary romance fiction that makes me both sigh (at the romantic bits) and giggle (at the snarky bits).

Indiscretion by Jude MorganSo whenever I can find a great book or author who reminds me of Austen, you can be sure I make a note of it.  A while back I found Pamela Aidan and her Mr. Darcy, Gentleman, series, but recently I found a book that comes even closer: Indiscretion, by Jude Morgan.

Morgan doesn’t use any of Austen’s characters, as Aidan does, but he does tell a fantastic British Regency-era tale, focusing on the adventures of one Miss Caroline Fortune.  The plot really isn’t all that important, but you should know the book involves service to a cantankerous wealthy patron, a rakish father, and a dashing but thorougly exasperating love interest.  Two words for you: Sigh, and giggle.

You have not only been wonderfully helpful, but you’ve convinced me that I’m not alone in my love for Jane Austen. Thank you!

It’s always nice to know we’re not alone, isn’t it? I’m glad you’ve been very accepting of my Jane Austen fixation. Now if I can just hold on until I can get Pamela Aidan’s third “Mr. Darcy” book…!

Keep the Austen read-alikes coming (or I shall run mad).
