Slapstick Sci Fi

Here’s one that I had to blow the dust off of when I found it in the stacks. Vossoff and Nimmitz: Just a Couple of Idiots Reupholstering Space and Time by Adam-Troy Castro is a set of linked short stories about two hapless space adventurers. Vossoff is a wannabe criminal mastermind (”Wanted by authorities on a thousand worlds, and despised by waitresses on a thousand more”), whose elaborate schemes to make money always end up with him in a worse situation than when he started. Nimmitz is his dim witted partner. Together they traipse across the universe, in a desperate attempt to make an obscene amount of money. 

The fact that this book was pasted together from short stories makes it a little awkward, at times it feels like you’ve heard the same joke way too many times. That being said, overall it was pretty funny, these are two characters who should be in your Sci Fi pantheon.
