Dead in the garden

A review of Pushing Up Daisies by Rosemary Harris

A new author getting a lot of attention is Rosemary Harris with her debut mystery titled Pushing Up Daisies.  Paula Holliday has moved from her high stress job in the television industry in New York City to live in the bedroom community of Springfield, Connecticut.  Starting a new gardening business has its own stresses but drumming up business and getting acquainted with the locals is still a lot less stressful then her television job.

When the local historical society inherits the Peacock estate including the house and large garden, Paula presents a plan to the society's director for getting the garden back to its original condition.  While not high paying, Paula figures that if successful it will certainly get her name out.  Touble is, she wasn't expecting to find a body buried in the garden.  Well written, with interesting characters, and a plausible amateur detective, I will look forward to more from this author.
