Coming to a School Near You

Madison Public Library's Summer Reading Clubs begin June 2! Register online or in person.

Last year over 9,600 youths participated in Kids Summer Reading Club (grades PreK-6) or Teen Summer Reading Club (grades 6-12).  Our summer reading clubs prevent learning loss by keeping kids reading over the summer, and they're just one of the fun things happening in our libraries for kids, teens (and adults!) this summer.

Our youth services librarians are visiting over 40 elementary, middle, and high schools in the Madison area to get kids excited about the Summer Reading Club. Check out our calendar of school visits.

New Books

The Boundless
Kenneth Oppel

Aboard "The Boundless," the greatest train ever built, on its maiden voyage across Canada, teenaged Will enlists the aid of a traveling circus to save the train from villains.

Fly Away
Patricia MacLachlan

While in North Dakota helping her Aunt Frankie prepare for a possible flood, Lucy finds her voice as a poet with the help of her two-year-old brother Teddy, the rest of their family, and a few cows.

The Numberlys
William Joyce

Before the alphabet was invented, life was very orderly, though not so exciting, until five friends set out to create something new.

Three Bears in a Boat
David Soman

Afraid to face their mother after breaking her beautiful blue seashell, three bears set out on a high seas adventure to try to find a replacement.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
James Dean

Pete the Cat takes on the classic favorite children's song Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star in a paper-over-board picture book format! Pete has already adapted "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," and now Pete puts his own stamp on the classic children's song, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." It's a perfect bedtime book for young readers.

A World Without Princes
Soman Chainani

When best friends Sophie and Agatha return to a fairy tale world, they find that old enemies are no longer fighting, but a war begins to brew as an enemy arises from within.
