Captain Awesome Vs the Evil Babysitter
Stan Kirby

Captain Awesome is up against his greatest villain yet when he's stuck with a babysitter for an entire weekend. Will the Sunnyview Superhero Squad prevail? Will Captain Awesome be able to save himself (oh, and his little sister) from the evil babysitter? With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Captain Awesome chapter books are perfect for beginning readers.

The Endless Lake
Erin Hunter

Lucky and his Pack were able to defeat Terror's dogs. But their new world still holds many dangers. Now the Pack has come to the edge of a strange lake that seems to stretch on forever, and Lucky discovers that there is barely enough food to survive. As winter approaches and the dogs struggle for prey and shelter, Alpha makes it clear that his own needs come before the rest of the Pack. Meanwhile, the Fierce Dogs are determined to destroy Alpha's Pack once and for all. And while Lucky struggles to keep his friends safe, he is haunted by visions of a storm of dogs--and a terrible battle that seems to loom closer every day.

Gustav Gloom and the Cryptic Carousel
Adam-Troy Castro

Gustav and Fernie begin their journey to the Shadow Country to save their fathers! Fernie and Gustav leave the safety of the Gloom Mansion and begin their long journey to the Shadow Country to save their families from the evil Lord Obsidian. Aided by the magical Cryptic Carousel, Fernie and Gustav travel to lots of exotic locations as they try to locate the Shadow Country, meeting a few new foes along the way.

Letter Lunch
Elisa Gutierrez

Hoping for a tasty alphabet lunch, a hungry brother and sister forage for edible letters in their back yard, at the local market, and through the woods before cooking up a feast of vowel-seasoned consonants to share with friends.

The Lion and the Bird
Marianne Dubuc

One autumn day, a lion finds a wounded bird in his garden. With the departure of the bird's flock, the lion decides that it's up to him to care for the bird. He does and the two become fast friends. Nevertheless, the bird departs with his flock the following autumn. What will become of Lion and what will become of their friendship?

Rules of Summer
Shaun Tan

Never be late for a parade. Never forget the password. Never ruin a perfect plan. It's all about the rules. But what if the rules feel completely arbitrary? What if your older brother is the only one who gets to make them up all summer long? And what if he's the only one who can save you when the darkness of winter comes rushing in? As usual, master artist and storyteller Shaun Tan shows us the strange truth of ordinary things -- rules, relationships, despair, and hope -- as only he can.
