Curtain's Up and CTM Present Lois Lowry

Join Children's Theater of Madison on January 31 at 7 pm for an evening with acclaimed author Lois Lowry in a special event at the Central Library previewing CTM's production of “The Giver. Ms. Lowry will be joined by APT actor Paul Bentzen, who plays the title role in the stage adaptation of Ms. Lowry's award-winning book. The evening will feature readings from the novel and the play, comments by Ms. Lowry regarding the process of adapting her novel to stage and screen, and a Q&A session with the audience. Ms. Lowry will sign books after the event. A Wisconsin Book Festival event recommended for ages 8 & up.

In addition, three interactive workshps are scheduled around The Giver:

  • Verona Public Library - Tuesday, January 28, 6:30 pm
  • Sun Prairie Public Library - Saturday, February 1, 1 pm
  • Fitchburg Public Library - Sunday, February 2, 1:30 pm

These workshops will include theater exercises, a reading from the play, and a group discussion about the popularity of dystopian literature, such as The Hunger Games, Lord of the Flies, and The Lottery. Free; for ages 10 and up.  These events are funded by a grant from Beyond the Page.

Dane County residents are invited to Madison libraries for upcoming workshops on the Health Insurance Marketplace. Certified application counselors from Public Health Madison and Dane County will be on hand to answer any questions that you might have.
