In the Indie Film Production Workshop the crew from the Madison based film company, Key Media, will work with you to draft, plan and plot your own independent film! Topics covered will include; Storytelling techniques, script writing, working on small/micro/no budgets, directing, and how to schedule a well managed production. Attendees are encouraged to bring a USB compatible storage device as well as a notepad and a pencil.

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

3D Animation with Nate

In the 3D Animation workshop you will learn the basics of using Autodesk Maya, the main animation program used by nearly all major video game and film studios - from Pixar and Warner Brothers to Nintendo and Blizzard. Attendees will work with a professional 3D Animator while creating their own high quality 3D Animations. Attendees are encouraged to bring a USB compatible storage device (portable hard drive or flash drive) to save their work.

This class is staffed by Media Lab Instructor Nate, with expertise in film production, editing, animation, game design, and digital art.

Film Editing workshop attendees will work with a professional Film Editor to edit, color correct, master and composite film. Attendees can bring their own footage or use stock footage provided by the Media Lab. Attendees are encouraged to bring a thumb drive or hard drive to save their work, and headphones for editing audio.

This workshop is staffed by Dan, with an expertise in Film Editing and Production.

Audio Engineering with Audrey

In the Audio Engineering workshop, a professional audio engineer will walk you through how to set up a basic recording session and record audio! We start with set up and end with diving into specific questions participants might have such as "How do you do that effect where it sounds like the singer is talking through a cell phone?" and "What are the differences between microphones and how do I know which one to use?" Personal instruments and microphones are not required, but if you have something you'd like to bring in, feel free!

Friday afternoon workshops are staffed by Audrey, who has extensive experience with audio engineering, live sound, and recording.

Attendees will gain a basic understanding of digital creation as well as photo manipulation and digital editing.
