Madison Traditional Gaming is all about traditional role-playing games such as Original Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D, Classic Traveller, Labyrinth Lord, and more! Meetings will be on the third Saturday of each month in the community room and will run all day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

48 Hour Film Fest

Come see the best short films the area's competitive filmmakers have to offer. The Madison 48-Hour Film Project kicks off it's 13th season with a Winter Showcase of 25 short films from the last five years. This free-of-charge public event includes thematic blocks such as Drama, Thriller Comedy & more, including the Best Film for each of the last five years. There will be discussion time for each block so attendees can meet with the filmmakers and learn more about the local branch of an international competition which give filmmakers just 48 hours to conceive, write, shoot, edit and produce complete — and completely legal — short films ready for the big screen. Past 48-Hour winners have gone on to work on major Hollywood productions. Meet the stars of tomorrow at the Madison Public Library today!

The Media Lab at Central Library is a free space to explore digital media production in the realms of stop motion animation, 3D world design, green screen video, audio design and graphic design. Drop in and explore the lab or work on projects with the expertise of our media lab staff.

Lab staff for today will be:
1-4 Dan- Expertise in film production and editing
1-4 Sophie - Expertise in digital art, graphic design, and animation
1-4 Richard - Expertise in audio recording
1-4 Bradley DLO - Expertise in audio recording

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Bubbler and the Media Lab are supported by grants from Madison Public Library Foundations and The Friends of the Madison Public Library.

Free one-on-one coaching sessions for writing projects of any kind, including resumes and cover letters, school assignments, personal letters, applications, forms, newsletters, articles, memoirs, poems or any other kind of writing. Basic computer help, such as setting up email accounts, searching for jobs online, or filling out online job applications, is also available.

Appointments for writing assistance may be made the day of assistance only! Call 266-6395 to make a 45-minute appointment. Due to high demand, you are encouraged to call as soon as the library opens (Saturdays at 9:00 a.m.)

Madison Writing Assistance is a free service provided by the UW-Madison Writing Center and is made possible through the generous support of The Evjue Foundation, the UW Anonymous Fund, Altrusa International of Madison, and the UW-Madison Writing Center.

Make messes and play with light at Meadowridge Library! Join Alaura Borealis in building metaphors and cultivating feelings with light boxes, shadow puppets, projectors, movie making, and more. Experiment with shadow art during this youth-focused residency.

Bio:Alaura Borealis is a social artist, community-based teacher, and co-founder of the ArtWrite Collective. Borealis is currently investigating gender in their ongoing project, Season of Shadows, and has translated that creative research into workshops for Meadowridge Library and other groups around Madison. How do you explain what you're feeling? What can you make from a shadow? Borealis wants to help figure that out.

Work with Bubbler artist Taylor Rushing to build and decorate your personalized old-fashioned wooden toy. Registration required, maximum registration is 10 kids. Ages 6 - 11.
