Our learn to series explores a different concept each month through hands on making! Drop in, and learn something new as you explore interesting materials and technology. Everybody is an inventor! Drop in this month and create your own computer controls using a MakeyMakey and conductive materials. Learn about electricity, but mostly have some fun! Ages 6 and up, younger siblings welcome if accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary.

Have you ever wondered what’s inside a dvd player? An old school vcr player? A paper shredder? Your old laptop? Find out in the Wreck it! adventure with guest tinkerer Karen Corbeill. Dismantle old technology to discover how it works and learn to use some awesome hand tools in the process. Learn how to recycle our old technology effectively when we’re done using it! Ages 7 and up. The Media Lab at Central Library is a free space to explore digital media production in the realms of stop motion animation, 3D world design, green screen video, audio design and graphic design. Drop in and explore the lab or work on projects with the expertise of our media lab staff.

Lab staff for today will be:
1-4 Dan- Expertise in film production and editing
1-4 Sophie - Expertise in digital art, graphic design, and animation
1-4 Yan - General Help
1-4 Bradley DLO - Expertise in audio recording

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Bubbler and the Media Lab are supported by grants from Madison Public Library Foundations and The Friends of the Madison Public Library.

Season of Shadows with Alaura Borealis (A Bubbler Program)

Make messes and play with light at Meadowridge Library! Join Alaura Borealis in building metaphors and cultivating feelings with light boxes, shadow puppets, projectors, movie making, and more. Experiment with shadow art during this youth-focused residency.

Bio:Alaura Borealis is a social artist, community-based teacher, and co-founder of the ArtWrite Collective. Borealis is currently investigating gender in their ongoing project, Season of Shadows, and has translated that creative research into workshops for Meadowridge Library and other groups around Madison. How do you explain what you're feeling? What can you make from a shadow? Borealis wants to help figure that out.
