Zoo and Aquarium Month, June

June is National Zoo and Aquarium Month.  Many popular zoos and aquariums have virtual tours and web cams online so that you can visit without having to travel far. You can also find resources at the library to help you plan trips to zoos or aquariums and set up your own aquarium at home.

Brookfield Zoo - near Chicago. 216 acres includes a children's zoo, butterfly garden, and innovative family play zoo.

Central Wisconsin Aquarium Society - non-profit organization dedicated to providing information to beginning aquarium hobbyists.

Henry Vilas Zoo - raining outside?  Take a virtual tour of our amazing local zoo or visit one of several indoor zoo buildings.  This fantastic zoo is free to the public, open year-round and supported by The Henry Vilas Zoological society.

Madison Aquarium Gardeners - a club exploring freshwater planted aquaria.

Milwaukee County Zoo - Wisconsin's largest zoo has animals from around the world:  2500 animals representing 300 species on 200 acres, plus rides such as a train, carousel, and zoomobile.

Milwaukee Aquarium Society - an organization devoted to the hobby of tropical fish, both freshwater and saltwater.

National Aquarium in Baltimore - considered to be one of the best aquariums in the world.

National Aquarium - in Washington, D.C.  Take a virtual world tour.

Shedd Aquarium - largest indoor aquarium in the world, with more than 8000 aquatic animals.

UW Zoological Museum - part of the University of Wisconsin Department of Zoology.  Their collections include birds, mammals, skeletons, fish and much, much more in a 10,000 square-foot collections storage and research facility, and a small exhibits gallery, open most days to the public.
